As Vice President of Grantmaking & Scholarships, Annette is responsible for directing and coordinating all BCCF grantmaking and scholarship functions. She oversees the daily operations and management for all aspects of processing grant requests and applications, including assigning the grants for review, correspondence and evaluation, and compiling of all relevant reports through the foundation technology system. In addition Annette assists with strategic planning for the Foundation, and coordinates the livable communities strategic focus areas.

A Battle Creek native, Annette received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. She is a registered landscape architect, and worked several years in that capacity focusing primarily on recreation and community development projects as well as grant administration. She was formerly the parks and recreation director for Calhoun County and received several awards for her service in public works on various community projects.

Laura Zalle is the Battle Creek College Access Network Program Officer. Battle Creek CAN seeks to create a college-going culture by nurturing and guiding students of all ages and providing support and resources to make education after high school a reality. Laura provides programming leadership for the Battle Creek College Access Network and the Foundation scholarship department.

A Battle Creek native, Laura received her bachelor's degree in Global and Area Studies with focuses in African Studies and Anthropology from Michigan State University. After receiving her degree at MSU, Laura joined the Peace Corps where she served as a community development volunteer for 2 years in the West African nation of Burkina Faso.

Terry Burleson is the Battle Creek College Access Network Program Manager. Battle Creek CAN seeks to create a college-going culture by nurturing and guiding students of all ages and providing support and resources to to make education after high school a reality. Terry co-administers the Legacy Scholarship while assisting in the development of college and career programming. He also manages outreach and develops marketing strategies for the College Access Network.

A Battle Creek native, Terry received his bachelor's degree in Spanish & Urban and Community Studies with a particular focus in Service Learning Leadership from the University of Michigan. After receiving his degree at Michigan, Terry served as a substitute teacher with Battle Creek Public Schools and subsequently as a College Adviser with the Michigan College Advising Corps.
